NJ update...

We've still got our luggage in tow! InshaAllah we're planning to leave after Imran's b-ball Fantasy League draft tonight at 7 inshaAllah.

Here's the sad part! I haven't gone out shopping yet!!! The only place I've been able to sneak into has been walmart and ross! YES! walmart! OMG i went crazy there. everything was like half price. Eesa's pull ups which are regularly 17.99 in Toronto were 8.79 for a bigger pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! scotch guard which is like 11 bucks in TO was 5 something here. and my favourite... STARCH.... 94cents!!!!!!! i got enchilada sauce, taco bell seasoning for tacos, kosher pringles in cheesums and baked potato flavors (thes eflavors dont even exist in TO) and lots of whack stuff!

at ross i found this really cute b-ball top for eesa... for just 2.99!!!!!!!!! when we got to the counter, the lady mentioned that the outfit has pants with it coz its a 2pc suit. bajia was waiting in the car so i said forget it (i was really happy with that price even as a one pc). last yr i bought him a sacramento kings tshirt for the same price too!

Eesa got horded with eidee. i dont know what to get for him yet. he got tons of gifts too from his extremely boyishly boyish cousins - really cute stuff!

oh how could i forget... i'd been ordering some stuff online for a while and was having them delivered here because of outrageous cutoms prices in canada (we've paid almost thrice the product cost on customs for accessories in imos old car!). i got to open up all the boxes yest and opening gifts is one of the most exciting feelings for me!

acc to imo, here's the most astonishing part .... i didnt visit bath and body works! :O:O *sigh* infact i didnt even visit a mall! *sniff*

ok im out!

I hear this a lot about cost difference in the US vs Canada. Is this true for Canadaian merchandise too. If so what does Candadian who can't come to US do or they made enough to get by.

    Love your Blog!!

neena, all canadians are allowed to go to the US (except those denied for specific criminal reason, i suppose). we dont need a visa to go to US and until recently we didnt even need a passport. infact, canadians can still travel without a passport (as long as u have an identification like a birth cert or liscense), except if you're a muslim!

the only ppl not allowed without a visa are refugees or landed immigrants etc(until they become citizens).

alhamdolillah, to survive in canada is very easy. its structured in such a way that most middle class ppl are able to cover their neccessities and can easily afford luxuries at the same and most lower class ppl are able to cover their neccessities.

compared to us, we have free health care, while they pay for theirs (my cousin pays $1300 a month in insurance (which is almost hte same as private school education for her 3!! kids) despite the fact that her husband is a doctor himself.

we dont pay in health care, but we drown in taxes. but our taxes. but our taxes also allow us to stay at home after a baby for upto a year on 55% pay (paid by the govt)j, in the US its only 2 wks or 2 mths. we also get child tax benefit for every child under 18 that we have - (basically our income is taxed less per child that we have) and get extra money ($100 per month) from the govt for each child's costs.

overall its not tough surviving in each country. i used to believe our prices are higher because of custom charges from US to canada, but my SIL (belaal.blogspot)pointed out that they're just high because they know ppl will still buy it... *sigh* ...and we do!

...until we discover shopping in US! then we can buy 2 for the price of one! ha!
